In March 2007 I attended the VISAPP 2007
conference in Barcelona. While not that far from Germany, I had never been to
Barcelona and not even to Spain before. As to see a little more of our
"Fellow European Countries" I hence added a little vacation to the business
trip.
As I wanted to go on a hiking trip, the first idea was the Pyrenees nearby
Barcelona. But for beginning of March the guidebooks mostly noted the skiing
facilities in these mountains. I hence decided to go to the Natural Park
Cap de Creus, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean Sea. In the end the
weather was not that bad and most likely warm enough for real mountains as well.
Nevertheless I did not regret the decission!
After being out in nature for three days I visited the Dali-Museum in Figueres
and went on to Barcelona. The train connection was really excellent, as well
as the Metro-system within Bacelona. The conference itself was... well... a
conference, and probably not that interessting for anyone not into Computer
Vision or Graphics. The "social event" was a nice flamenco dance however. Also
in the evenings I found a bit of time for strolling through Barcelona, and
particularly enjoyed the Parc Güell, designed by Gaudi.
Here are some of my photos. Overall I took almost 1000, but only set up a few
of them here:
